We’re looking for a friendly, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Pre-Analytical Laboratory Clerk at our KZN Histology lab. This is a permanent position, perfect for someone eager to kick-start or grow their career in a medical laboratory setting.
About the Role:
In this role, you’ll be the first point of contact for incoming samples. Your main responsibilities will include receiving, logging, and ensuring samples are correctly processed and sent to the right departments. Your attention to detail will help us deliver accurate results quickly, ensuring patients get the care they need.
What You Need to Succeed:
- A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Up to 1 year of relevant work experience (training will be provided if you’re new to the field).
- Basic computer skills, especially familiarity with laboratory information systems.
- An understanding of lab procedures related to sample handling and processing.
Key Tasks:
- Log samples into the system and package them properly for the next step.
- Check that sample details match the information entered into our system.
- Scan patient forms and securely discard original documents after processing.
- Sort and distribute samples to the appropriate laboratories or departments efficiently.
- Prepare shipping lists and ensure all samples are correctly accounted for before they leave the lab.
- Handle outgoing samples with care, making sure they’re properly packaged and recorded.
- Perform regular housekeeping tasks, like cleaning and maintaining equipment and storage areas.
